Before I knew it, my holiday was over and I was back in work, but at least I managed to tick a few items off my 'To Do' list; the best of which was an 1800 word short story. Now, I'm not much of a short story writer, I find it very, very challenging to fit a story into so few words, but I managed it! This is now the second time I have actually managed to stay within the word limit for a short and wind up with an end product I'm proud of :) So although I was a little sad to return to work, I feel I've accomplished something worthwhile.
Of course, I still have my entry for the Debut Dagger to work on, but as it is now New Year's Eve I have a bank holiday weekend to work on my chapters. Score!
I've spent a fair amount of time with a blank notebook and pen, scribbling out ideas and character details, story arcs I want to include and making a list of the edits I want to make to my MS. Now that my thoughts are in order I can get on with the first pass.
So that's what I'll be doing this New Year's. I did allow myself a quick trip out to watch Sherlock Holmes - Game of Shadows this morning, but while others are squashed into pubs and clubs, five deep at the bar and paying over the odds for drinks, I'll be tucked up on the sofa with my laptop and my hubby, having a quiet beer or two, doing what I love best - writing.
Blwyddyn Newydd Da i chi gyd - Happy New Year to you all.
